With some many beautiful yarns out there to choose from, it’s often hard to choose which is the best yarn for you.
Here’s a few handy tips that we hope will help you:
A yarn for all seasons – choose your yarn depending on what you are making – for example if you are making a shawl then think about whether you are looking for something warm and fluffy that is perfect for Autumn and Winter or something more cooling for a Summer shawl this will help you decide what yarn to choose.
Follow the pattern: we always suggest that if the pattern makers have suggested a certain yarn, then follow their advice they know how their pattern knits up best! If the specific yarn isn’t available, then please ask us and we will always be very happy to recommend a suitable substitute yarn. The key things to remember is ensure the substitute yarn is a similar feel, weight and fibre.
If you are looking for natural yarns then we would suggest you work with natural wools or yarns produced from plant sources. Natural wools like Merino and Lambswool are produced from sheep’s fleece. Other natural fibres include cotton and linen.
